Everly

“You’re right. We’ll do it,” were magic words that came floating from Torin’s mouth on winged chariots. The heavens opened up, the light shone down, and sparkles glittered around the men sitting on the couches.

Yes, I reveled in the puckered lips and drawn brows of my dimpled companion. I might have even let a bit of a squeal of glee and gloating out. He looked like he’d sucked on a lemon and then discovered someone had wiped Willy’s ass with it first. I debated standing on the coffee table and bowing, but I didn’t push my luck. Instead, I schooled my face and straightened up like I suddenly became a professional or some shit.

“OK. Honestly, it makes the most logical sense. We can travel faster, and I can get you out faster if something goes bad or someone is hurt. Plus, according to that mess with Mr. Li, you won’t die. Always a good thing. You want it straight from the tap or as a mixture?” I asked as I jerked my head down in finality.

Ren just leaned back in his seat, one foot on the table and one arm on the back of the couch. Torin still sat all tense and puckered like an asshole when someone drank some funky water. On the other terrible choice in couches, Kohana was writing something on a small notepad, while Dixin was laying back with his eyes closed. I guess Dix wasn’t that worried since he’d already ingested quite a bit of me. Willy was still missing, as usual.

Ren and Kohana chose the mixture, while Torin chose to take it directly from the source. Willy was getting it mixed with his whiskey. There was no way I was letting the fucker suck anything of mine. I popped into the kitchen and grabbed a couple of sodas out of the fridge. The sharp pop of the tab, followed by the fizzy sound was the only noise in the house as I wiped the condensation from my hand. The slice to my palm was quick, and the knife was sharp enough that I didn’t feel it until after the blood began to collect. I tipped my hand over and let the go-go juice trickle into the still bubbling drink. Unsure of how much would be enough, I switched back and forth to ensure an even amount. My healing warranted opening the wound up twice more before I was satisfied. The fox hadn’t taken much, but it was a fair sight smaller than either of the men.

When I got back to the living room, they had moved on. They were looking at the main property of the scrawny guy. I sauntered over to Kohana first. He dropped the notepad in his lap and curled his hand around the can. With his eyes locked on mine, he gulped it down. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed both the soda and my lifeblood. Ko finished, leaving a bit of liquid glistening on his bottom lip. His tongue darted out, and my eyes fastened on it as he swiped it across.
